This section is responsible for receiving incoming Semester Study Abroad (SSA) and exchange students and for sending UCT students to partner institutions abroad. The unit recruits, processes and receives between 600 and 700 students annually.
On the outward mobility of UCT students to partner institutions, 2006 saw some 60 students complete a semester abroad programme.
The section provides a host of services to international students, such as:
- recruitment and marketing of programmes
- provision of a comprehensive orientation
- processing of applications for SSA and outwardly mobile students
- provision of SSA housing service
- assistance with registration of SSA students at UCT
- facilitation of academic advice to SSA and outwardly mobile students
- facilitation of SSA students' participation in community service
- facilitation of exchange partner visits
