Frequently asked questions

What happens if I am eligible to receive financial assistance?
The faculty to which you applied for a study place will also consider your application for financial assistance and may make a provisional offer to you. The faculty will correspond with you in writing

What steps must I take if the faculty makes an offer of financial assistance?
Remember, any offer at this stage is still provisional. A form that you would need to complete will accompany the provisional offer. This form must be completed and, together with specified supporting documents, returned to UCT's Student Financial Aid Office. Address details will be provided in the correspondence that you receive. Where the aforementioned form and documents are not returned, your provisional offer of financial assistance cannot be confirmed.

When will I receive confirmation that I will be receiving financial assistance from UCT?
After the provisional faculty offer of financial assistance, and within 24 hours of receiving all the documents requested from you, the Undergraduate Funding Office will post a final response to you.

What should I do if my application for financial assistance is unsuccessful?
You would need to consider funding options from sources other than UCT. It is advisable that you seek funding assistance from more than just one source and that you start this process as early as possible. Do not wait for a final answer from UCT before applying for funding elsewhere. It is crucial that you have secured funding before registering at UCT.
