Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
In accordance with section (34 CFR 668.18 , 34 CFR 668.34, and 34 CFR 668.32) the University of Cape Town is required to ensure all US Federal Loan Students meet the minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress for their academic program, see SAP policy, or the student may lose their eligibility for Federal loan funding.
If your SAP report is not satisfactory, or you exceeded the time frame to complete your academic program, you will be placed on a "financial aid warning" for the next semester of enrollment. However, you may be able to continue with your current academic program (consult the faculty) with your own funding or you may apply for a personal loan. When you receive your next SAP your eligibility may be reinstated.
Repeat courses that were previously awarded US federal funds are not eligible for further aid. For US federal loan purposes repeat courses do not count towards full-time status.
