Lectures
UCT hosts at least four lectures for alumni each year:
- alumni leadership forums
- the Vice-Chancellor's open lectures
- other lectures, such as academic inaugurals, and the Steve Biko and TB Davie lectures
- alumni lectures at summer school at the end of January, which are followed by cocktails
Performances
From time to time the Baxter Theatre Centre, in conjunction with any number of UCT's performing arts schools, put on performances and concerts specifically for alumni. Keep an eye on the Upcoming Events page to make sure you don't miss out!

UCT alumni regularly gather to attend a range of events, such as lectures by senior academics or shows with visiting South African celebrities.
Past events include:
- Anthropologist Sally Frankental speaking in Jerusalem
- Dean of Law Hugh Corder speaking in London
- Baxter Theatre Centre productions at Stratford-upon-Avon (Hamlet) and in London (Hear and Now)
- The premiere of the movie Tsotsi in New York
