In honour of the late Dr Cecil Moss the UCT Rugby Club is hosting a memorial game between our 1st XV and an invitational side drawn from local club rugby teams.
Doc Moss was a UCT alumnus, class of 1946: a dedicated and respected anaesthetist, he assisted in the first ever heart transplant, and was part of the team that operated on Nelson Mandela during the former president’s political imprisonment. But he also had a rich career as a passionate and much-loved rugby player and coach – for UCT, Western Province, and the Springboks.
The match will be open to members of the public, and we would most especially like to extend the invitation to all those whose lives were touched by Doc Moss, whether as a doctor or as a sportsman. The match will take place on the Green Mile on UCT Upper Campus, with UCT’s 2nd XV and U20 teams playing a warm-up match at 14:30, and the main event kicking off at 16:00.
