A Special Meeting of the AAB was held on Thursday 12 January 2017 at 5.30pm to elect a representative and alternate to represent alumni on the Multi Stakeholder Steering Group which will oversee the Institutional Reconciliation and Transformation Commission (IRTC). The Dean of the Centre for Higher Education at UCT, Professor Suellen Shay, has penned an open letter to her fellow UCT alumni, in the wake of the 2016 Annual General Meeting of the Convocation, which took place on December 15th at the Kramer Law School.
At their board meeting on 3 November 2016, the Trustees of the University of Cape Town Trust (UK) noted concern, expressed support, made calls upon students and government, and reiterated their determination to support the university and its values, and to redouble efforts to promote knowledge of the university’s outstanding achievements in teaching and research.
