In his informative and succinct way, Mr Gutsche spoke about his business journey, which started while, as a Commerce student at UCT, he would work as a driver-salesman at the SA Bottling Company during vacations.

Fast forward to the present day, where under Gutsche's leadership, the Company, now renamed Coca-Cola Sabco, has expanded by leaps and bounds and serves around 250 million consumers, delivering an average of 20 million drinks a day to 345,000 outlets across Southern and East Africa.

Addressing an audience of about 40 alumni from the PE and East London areas, he shared his tips for success in business, from managing relationships, to keeping stringent operational controls and building successful, merit-based partnerships.

He recalled lessons learned at UCT, quoting one of his professors who used to say the customer is sovereign, and votes with his (her) feet!
