Worldwide Universities Network (WUN)

Funding opportunities: Research Mobility Program: Overview

The Research Mobility Programme (RMP) affords academic researchers: postgraduate researchers, postdoctoral researchers, and research faculty, the opportunity to visit one of the international WUN partners. The programme not only enables research scholars to advance the knowledge-base of their field of study in other research environments, establish new contacts and mentors, but also enables the sharing of expertise and resource facility between institutions.

Since joining the network in 2009, UCT has made several awards and many awardees credit the programme as having had a significant impact on their research, their career development and their international standing. Some awardees have described the RMP as very "helpful" whereas others have gone so far as to describe the award as "going a long way in establishing research collaborations" with partners universities. Modalities

UCT allocates up to a maximum of R25 000 per RMP award. These awards are used to fund short-term visits to WUN partner campuses to either strengthen existing research and/or academic collaboration or to establish collaborations which may then be funded by other sources. This award operates on two deadlines per annum: April and September.
