IAPO services: Pre-departure information: Preliminary information
Accepting your offer of study
Once you receive a letter of offer for an academic place, it is important that you confirm your acceptance of the offer, as soon as possible, in order to secure your place. Should you receive an offer for a place in UCT residence, then you ought to secure your residence offer within the specified period. A reply form is attached to the offer letter.
For further important pre-departure information, access the international full degree student’s orientation brochure
Arranging your accommodation
The University of Cape Town has over 24 000 students, but unfortunately can only offer accommodation in a university residence to 6000 students. This number includes new and returning students. This means that there is heavy demand for accommodation. UCT is also host to over 4500 international students. The majority of these students stay off-campus therefore the demand for accommodation is high and by far exceeds availability.
In case you did not obtain UCT campus housing, the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) is available to assist in finding accommodation.
Students are advised to notify the International Office well in advance if assistance is required with finding off-campus accommodation. Once housing is identified, students need to liaise directly with the landlord when interested.
Should you be taking the accommodation offered please inform Connie Williams.
