Overview
The events management unit is responsible for managing all major UCT corporate events, especially those hosted in the names of the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor. These are planned events that have been agreed to and signed off by the Vice-Chancellor and the university executive.
All conferences held at the university must be formally approved by Senate and sponsored by a UCT faculty, department or unit. Please review our events and visitor guideline documents on how to host a conference at the University of Cape Town.

How to apply to hold a conference, seminar or workshop at UCT
- You may print this form or obtain forms for approval from the Manager: Events & Public Relations.
- The form may be completed electronically, signed by the head of department and returned to the Manager: Events & Public Relations.
- The Manager: Events & Public Relations will request the necessary approval from Senate and you will be advised of the outcome.
- The Manager: Events & Public Relations will then be able to assist you in an advisory capacity. For conference management assistance please see details below.

UCT Breakwater Lodge
From its Portswood Ridge vantage point, UCT Breakwater Lodge conference facilities command a birds-eye view of the restored harbour and forms part of the Breakwater Campus of UCT's Graduate School of Business.
The function venues are technologically advanced & equipped with modern state-of-the-art audio visual equipment. Venues can cater up to 220 delegates with wireless hotspots throughout the building and secure parking is available.
