Online Communications
Online Communications (OC) provides support to the UCT community for web development in a number of specific areas.
Web policy
OC is responsible for formulating web-related policy.
The UCT corporate website
OC is responsible for:
- the programming and maintenance of the site (www.uct.ac.za)
- the administration of the site content managers
- the provision of HTML and content management system (CMS) manuals for the site content managers
- updating (but not sourcing) content on those areas of the site which have no content managers assigned to them
UCT-related websites
OC provides the UCT community with (and as resources allow):
- websites on the CMD content management system (CMS)
- HTML and CMS manuals for sites created by OC
- folders for new UCT-related websites on the UCT web server
- instructions on how to register a domain name and acquire WebDAV access to the web server
Please note that domain name registration and WebDAV access are provided by ICTS.
On completion of a website the site and its contents become the responsibility of the owner (who commissioned it). Updating it is not OC’s responsibility, unless requested to do so and if capacity allows.

OC assists the UCT community with content (copy) updates on request and if capacity allows.
