Register: Vice-Chancellor’s Inaugural Lecture by Professor Hussein Suleman
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, invites you to the Inaugural Lecture by Professor Hussein Suleman
Topic: Computer Science at times of crisis: reflecting on societal drivers for software and algorithm design
How do we build better software? How do we do this in a destitute region, in an era of severe constraints, and for purposes without instant or commercial benefit? How do we build software for long-term societal benefit? These are some key drivers for research into alternative design strategies for software. The lecture will present decisive problems and recent research, in the context of computer science and digital archiving tools.
