Suspicious parcel
- Establish the exact location
- Establish appearance
- Cover with a bomb blanket (if available)
- Inform the building emergency controller
- Inform Campus Security
Explosion
Try to determine
- Any casualties;
- Any fire;
- What emergency services are required.
Bomb threat
Try to determine
- When will it detonate?
- Where is the bomb?
- What does it look like?
- Why was it placed?
- How many devices are there?
If possible try to put the call through to the Campus Protection Office.
Inform
- Inform Campus Protection at 021 650 2222 / 3;
- Inform the building emergency controller;
- Ensure that the area is totally cordoned off and kept clear;
- Be available to give assistance to emergency services personnel.

Please report any incident that happens on the campus to CPS - even if there is no injury or damage. UCT will need to investigate the incident in order to prevent a similar occurrence.
