Topic: Women in academia: Thriving or Surviving?
The psychological contract – the relationship between academics and their institutions – has been changing over the last decade. When coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, there may be long-term effects on retention, productivity, and overall performance. In which way have psychological contracts shifted or been breached? Which elements need updating, for example: work tasks, schedules, and performance appraisals? How can academic psychological contracts be clarified and negotiated during this time of uncertainty and crisis? And how can anxiety and burnout be reduced while sustaining optimism and organisational commitment?
