Convocation has elected four candidates to serve on the UCT Council for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2024. They are Marlene le Roux, Shuaib Manjra, Dumisa Ntsebeza and Christopher Vaughan.

UCT moved 20 places to 136th position in the latest 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The sixth edition of the US News Best Global Universities rankings saw UCT being ranked 121st globally for 2020.

Groote Schuur Hospital under the banner of the Western Cape Provincial Government: Department of Health in conjunction with UCT is hosting the Leadership conference from 28 to 30 January 2021 at Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town. The conference theme is "Inspire, Integrate and Adapt towards sustainable leadership for the future."
